Overview

We are very pleased to announce the fourth annual PIUG 2010 Boston Biotechnology meeting, to be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, hosted by AMGEN, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Due to space considerations this meeting is limited to 100 attendees. The focus of this one-day meeting will be sequence searching and is entitled, "Managing Biosequences: Retrieval to Results." Following are examples of issues to be addressed in this conference:

  • Document navigation
  • Merging data sets
  • Sorting, indexing, bucketing, pruning
  • Reports, charts and visualization
  • Statistical analysis
  • Automated processing of records (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel macros; alerts)
  • Annotation & mark-up
Biosequence Searching and Informatics
  • Designing queries that strike a balance between casting a broad net and cherry-picking the best results
  • How to merge sequence and text results to tell the best story
  • BLAST summit: settings, comparison to other algorithms, and sensitivity/specificity trade-offs
