I founded Wolff Information Consulting LLC (http://www.wolffinfo.com) in 2006 to bring value to others in search services and intellectual property management. I am a Patent Information Specialist with 30 years experience in the chemical arts providing R&D, legal, and marketing departments with expert consultation and search services, including on-demand and on-going technical information reports and patentability, invalidity, freedom-to-operate, and state-of-the-art searches.

I accepted severance after 26 years with Amoco/BP/Innovene. I began my career at Amoco Chemical Company as a research chemist in 1980. I moved to the Information Research and Analysis team in 1990 where I continued through the merger with BP and spin-off of the petrochemical and polymer company, Innovene, until its sale to Ineos. I have chemistry degrees from Stanford University (Ph.D) and from MIT (B.S.) and am registered as a Patent Agent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Throughout my career I have been effective in building rapport with customers, colleagues, and service providers to deliver effective information services and resources. My accomplishments include development of software applications and work processes that are used regularly by corporate staff members to provide cost-effective search reports. In addition, I have had the opportunity to champion end-user search tools and intranet and extranet web sites to help customers probe interest areas before asking for expert service.

I have published on "Patent Invalidity Searching" in "ONLINE" magazine; and on "Freedom-to-Operate Searching" and "STN Script Commands" in "Searcher. The Magazine for Database Professionals"; and have presented and written about other matters at PIUG Conferences and in ChemTech, Database and other publications.

I am a long-time member of the Patent Information Users Group (PIUG), the Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP), and the American Chemical Society Division of Chemical Information and Division of Chemistry and the Law. I am the former chair of the PIUG Electronic Communications Committee, PIUG Webmaster and PIUG Wikimaster.
