STN is continuing the STN Coffee Lecture series with two sessions in April 2022. These webinars contain concise, easily understandable information on various aspects of STN commands, interfaces or specific databases and are about 10 minutes in length. The two STN Coffee Lectures for April are –
Title: Numeric Property Searching on STNext®
Abstract: The unique Numeric Property Search (NPS) feature offers exact value and range search options for 60 physical and chemical properties, for example TEMPERATURE (/TEMP) or PRESSURE (/PRES), indexed from more than 1,800 original units. Those numeric values and their corresponding units are automatically extracted from database text, normalized and then made available for searching. This coffee lecture will briefly introduce this powerful STN search tool, providing a variety of practical search examples to demonstrate its use.

Title: Get Organized in STNext® – All About “My Files”
Abstract: The My Files feature allows searchers to organize and clearly describe all saved items within STNext. Structures, biosequences, scripts, and transcripts each can be categorized, organized, renamed, and easily previewed and retrieved to make your search sessions more efficient. This session will cover the functions of all of the aspects of My Files and will share tips and tricks for maximizing efficiency and organization when managing your search assets.

STN is also running two e-Seminars in April as a result of the Derwent databases being reloaded and restructured on STNext -
Title: DWPI reloaded – Get fit for using the Derwent databases DWPI, DCR and DPCI after the reimplementation on STNext®
Abstract: The Derwent World Patents Index® (DWPI) has been reloaded on STN and will be released on April 3rd, 2022. The new implementation offers several enhanced search and display options, content as well as workflow enhancements, such as the integration of the Derwent Patent Citation Index (DPCI) into DWPI. The new synergies between both files make it much easier to combine a standard DWPI patent search with a citation search, so that DWPI prior art searches can easily be extended with prior art from citation data. Moreover, the Derwent Chemistry Resource (DCR) has become now a separate structure searchable database with more powerful structure retrieval and alert capabilities as well as substructure highlighting.

Title: An advanced overview on the reloaded Derwent databases DWPI, DCR and DPCI
Abstract: The Derwent World Patents Index® (DWPI) has been reloaded on STN. In that course, the new DWPI has undergone significant changes to searching chemical structures in the Derwent Chemistry Resource (DCR) as well as citation information in the Derwent Patent Citation Index (DPCI). In this follow-up session to the initial webinar earlier this month in which the major changes were introduced to get you equipped for searching confidently in the new DWPI, we will focus now on more advanced topics such as working with citations and new search options in DCR. Moreover, we will discuss changes which need to be done to your structure queries so that they will continue to run efficiently.
