On 24 and 25 March, CIIPM’s next online training course will provide patent searchers with the fundamental skills needed to conduct Freedom to Operate (FTO) searches. For those with experience already and wishing to develop their skills further, an advanced FTO Search & Analysis course is scheduled for 14-15 April.
Companies, large and small, all need to ensure that, as far as possible, their potential product or process will not infringe any existing patents. In this training course we will review what is FTO, when and how to prepare for FTO searching and analysis, how to stage an FTO exercise according to the product development stage, and what you can do when your budget is limited to minimise risk and maximise freedom to operate. The fundamentals course will also cover:
- keeping a project log
- writing up your search strategy
- how to decide the relevance of your findings
- how to analyse the results
- the best way to report your findings.
Practical exercises and Q&A will make the sessions as interactive as possible in the virtual setting.
The FTO Search & Analysis Fundamentals online course will take place over two 1.5 hour sessions on 24-25 March. Enrolment costs £190 + VAT for both sessions, course manual and certificate of attendance.
